CATCALL debut album out now!

The Warmest Place

It’s been a little while in the making, but CATCALL’s debut album THE WARMEST PLACE is out today! Featuring the singles Satellites, Swimming Pool and The World Is Ours, the record has already been winning over the critics:
“Sydney’s Catcall may just have made your favourite album of 2012”

- Time Out Sydney
“Catcall’s brand of unpredictable synth pop is sure to turn heads… She’ll be big”

– Herald Sun, 4/5 stars
“Surely one of the best Australian albums you’ll hear all year.”

– Sydney Star Observer
“A stellar first offering”

– Groupie Mag
“Intelligent pop”

– Drum Media, Album Of The Week
“Modern pop with a pulse”

– Rolling Stone
“The standout Pop album of 2012/2013”

– Polaroids Of Androids
“Catcall’s new record is my favourite, and I’ve never been so motivated to be happy”

– The Thousands
The praise, however, hasn’t only been in Australia. In recent weeks CATCALL has been chosen as Song of the Day on influential US radio station KEXP while album track Paralysed was premiered on Fader and described thus:

“Like a soundtrack for some imaginary Alicia Silverstone runway scene or your after-class happy walk to buy strawberry soft-serve”

Prefix Mag called it “a slab of guilt-free pop that seems destined to make her some kind of indie it-girl”. Nice.

Since releasing her debut EP, the bratty, hip hop charged Anniversary, CATCALL has come a long way. Her sound has evolved into lush, moody and evocative dance pop, and she has already garnered huge amounts of critical acclaim.

Gawker described Satellites as “sublimely catchy”, and influential US music blog Gorilla vs Bear placed the track in its top 100 songs of 2011. The yearning and soulful Swimming Pool topped Hype Machine upon release, received high praise from sites like Rose Quartz, Fader and Electrorash, and was voted the best local track of 2010 by Mess+Noise who described it as “…the most resonant pop song to unexpectedly emerge in 2010… This is a rare species of pop music that doesn’t press itself upon you. It bleeds and smears and evolves and gradually becomes alive”.
