Sigur Ros let slip Australian tour plans | music news | triple j

Triple J Music News:
Sigur Ros will be visiting Australia for the first time since 2008 later this year.

As Fasterlouder reports, the news came via an interview frontman Jonsi did with Drowned In Sound.

"We're doing a short North American tour", he said during the chat.

"And a few European dates as well as the festivals, then we're off to Australia."

Accroding to Jonsi, the band hope to make the visit with an orchestra in tow.

"I think we'll want to take some strings with us, especially when we're playing the new album. It will be difficult to translate those songs live without them."

The timing of their visit makes them a strong contender for Harvest but that line up isn't expected for a little while yet.

Sigur Ros' new album Valtari is due May 28.

Awesome news!
